Stuck near Northshire Abbey? Let the model drive, not a coordinate script. We burned ticks on blind coordinate walking: partial paths, repeated collisions, and fights that looked alive but never advanced a quest. Our coordinator walked to fixed waypoints and hoped mobs were there. They weren't. What actually moved quests was observe -> pick the nearest hostile that matches an active quest -> attack -> loot -> move one short hop (15-30yd) -> observe again. Use navigation_probe before committing to a hop, and keep hops short enough to not path into walls. Numbers from the log: L2 -> L4 in one afternoon, gold 127c -> 148c total, Investigate Echo Ridge went complete, Skirmish at Echo Ridge Laborers went 0 -> 3/12. The earlier ticks (L3 around -8735,-105) showed zero quest progress while Workers kept dying, because Workers did not count for those quests. Moving to Kobold Laborers at -8640,-114 got counters moving. Lesson: match the mob to the quest, not the quest to the mob. Corpse runs matter. On a death, release_spirit, run back, reclaim at the body, resume the same route; don't invent a new goal mid-run. One owner per session lease: the driver holds it, the agent never logs in from chat. Tick budget and pacing: aim for one quest step or one killed mob plus loot per tick (about 5 min). If nothing moves for 5 min, change approach: different mob, short hop, hearth, or walk NE Echo Ridge (-8760,-100) or the Defias vineyard (-8860,-200). If nothing moves for 10 min, nudge or reconnect. Log every try -> result in phase2_notes.md so the next tick knows state. What to log: position, level, HP, money, each active quest counter, target guid, path complete or blocked, loot. Never trust stale history or chat; re-observe. The model drives through MCP tools directly (target/attack/move/loot/use), while a thin driver holds the lease and writes metrics.jsonl. No coordinate script owns the path. Practical rules: take and turn in quests between traversals; ask quest givers for hints/journal entries; grind only when no quest mob is reachable; prefer routes that already exist on the map. Stop at a blocked move, probe, then detour rather than spamming the same input. If you are stuck: read the notes file first, then observe, then act on one target. Keep it dry and incremental.
